I have been really horrendously slow on this whole costume... it's mainly doe to the fact that every single pattern i have to use needs to be altered in so many weird ways. Darts are fast becoming my friends since i have to work around a corset which is a totally different silhouette...

So far i have a base-ish pattern for the ruffle-y underskirt. and all the other pattern pieces to fit together for the over skirt...

I finished the blouse FINALLY... after semi-ditching the pattern with princess seams, i went for one with darts and spliced the two together to get the right neckline. i'm not sure how i managed it but it only too me three tries to get the collar line right. it looks spectacularly awesome... and i can barely move my arms higher than my head! yaayayayayayayyy.. (!)

next up is building the skirt... i already have most of the base pattern sorted out... need to make a few modifications to the waistband and the hemline and the blasted thing will be sorted... already it's caused me great grief and pain... i find myself wondering all the time why in hellfire i decided to do ruffles... i'm hoping it will look fantastic...

i think the trickiest bit is figuring out the fabric yardage and how much ruffle should each ruffle have... i've estimated about 3 times the width so they should be pretty decent and fluffular ruffles...

i don't have much time left so i should be doing less typing and more patterning...

Before i go though i have to exclaim with all the squee in my being that my waistcoat fabric should get here sometime next month!!!!! it was super expensive but will be soooooooo pretty... sad thing is i will be terrified to cut into it... 0_0

I was going through my closet one day and I found a few things (my black combat boots, in particular) that made me realise. . . "Hey, cosplaying Nine would really easy to pull off." So, I decided to go for it. I was only a couple of things short of having the basics of Nine, which I didn't have a hard time of finding.

. . . So far it's the fastest, easiest,  and CHEAPEST cosplay i've done.

- - It consists of...

A dark green, long-sleeve, V-neck tee by SO from Kohls (prolly around $12.00)
((The first Nine episode I saw was Dalek, since then I always picture him in a green v-neck))

Black skinny jeans by Mudd, also from Kohls ($30 at the most)
((Best bit is these can do double duty if I ever decide to do Eleven))

A Not-So-Leather Jacket by H&G... ebay ($14)

Black lace up, Doc Marten boots from Famous Footwear ($50... bought on discount YAY ...)

And lastly my Sonic screwdriver and psychic paper... ($15 from Think Geek about three years ago.)

Well that last was not quite as lastly... Hair... had a bugger of a time figuring it out. but since i've dyed it dark. it's a bit easier. Nine's hair is short, no fuss, and out of the way... my hair... isn't...  it's flyaway, layered... so a semi-side ponytail capturing most of the layers was my best option.

The most expensive thing so far was the boots... but those i had anyway. all in all cost me at most $150 - $160 not bad for a costume... (whereas Girl!Five I value in the $500 - $1000 range because of all the custom work I did, and my skills are verra expensive)

I think it is a given that you find things when you aren't looking for them. Right now I'm in Anaheim on one of my MANY trips to Disneyland (fourth annual pass!!!) I went to Target and decided to check out the sock section... for the heck of it not really expecting to find anything... most definitely not expecting to find THESE!!!

it's been eight months since I have started looking for Red knee high socks... and i have found them sucessssss... so *marks that off the list*

X   Shoes (working on dirting them up.)

haven't been doing much regarding Girl!Five lately... mostly cuz i'm scared to actually cut into my skirt fabric. but i'm buying my chucks next week ... and still on the lookout  for red socks.

The sweater/jumper/thing is going good. i'm thinking of making it more into a vest though right now... just because i don't feel like knitting sleeves... but i'm at the point of shaping the arm holes in the back. all is good so hoohary and all that jazz.

and i think that's all i have ... except i've got a panama in my amazon shopping cart so just hoping for it to go back down before i buy it.

ohhhhh need help with finding a single stalk of fake leafy celery.... any assistance in finding it would be very helpful.
